Monday, April 22

It’s “Every Kid Healthy Week,” a great week to celebrate wellness! Start the week by making time each day to get outside and go for a walk. 

A short walk will increase your breathing rate causing oxygen to travel faster through your bloodstream and improve your energy.  Walking is good for your heart, strengthens bones and muscles, and even gives your MOOD a boost!

30 Minute Challenge
Step it up and make your walks 30 minutes.  Get together with a friend or family member and celebrate Every Kid Healthy Week by planning a 30 minute walk each day.  After each walk, take a moment to think about how you feel…that great after-walk feeling is a motivator to continue the challenge!




Tuesday, April 23

Have fun with healthy foods! Invite some friends to sample healthy snacks made with fruits and veggies instead of sugar.

Decide what foods you want to sample. Fruits? Vegetables? Whole grain? Can you create a picture with the fruit, vegetable, or whole grain items? Why not make a sailboat?

Food Face
Play the Food Face Game, then replicate it for friends or family members. What creative ways can you eat fit foods this week?




Wednesday, April 24

What does a tree, warrior, and a cat have in common?
They're all names of yoga poses!

Try adding yoga to your routine! Yoga is a great way to de-stress, stretch, and RECHARGE. You can do it anywhere you have space, alone or with friends, and for any length of time!

Try these yoga poses to get started! Challenge yourself to practice yoga 3 times a week or whenever you need to RECHARGE.

Turn to your neighbor and tell a 30-second story of how you made fit choices today!

There are many things that keep you busy. School, activities, friends, and homework take up a lot of time. It's important that you find time to RECHARGE so you will be able to make fit choices. Reading your favorite story is a great way to take a break and have some quiet time.

Friday, April 26

Sweet relaxation! Have you ever felt tired and unfocused after a day at school? Live it up and relax for a while. How will you RECHARGE your energy today?

In what ways can you beat brain fog? Relaxing and spending some quiet time alone will RECHARGE your energy. Choose to read a book, look for shapes in the clouds, or build a fort with blankets and pillows.
